21 Weeks

Dear Wyatt,

You are 21 Weeks Old this week.

You are a handsome little devil, I must say! It is hard to believe that in a week you will have your 5-month birthday.

Something new you are doing this week is sucking your upper lip in with your tongue when you are hungry. It cracks me up!

You are also blowing bubbles and raspberries now more than ever. We go through several burp rags a day because of all the drool - but that's okay we have plenty.

You also love your jumparoo more than ever. You will seriously bounce in that thing for over an hour. It is fun to watch you because you really get into it. You get really excited and squeal. One day on my day off I moved the jumparoo to the bathroom and I was able to get completely ready and you were just fine entertaining yourself. So we bought a Johnny Jumper to put in the doorway to the bathroom because that jumparoo was hard to get through the doorway.

You have been pretty much over your activity mat lately and have been wanting to be entertained by your dad and me more often. You like to have us sit and stand you up so you can watch us and have "conversations" with us.

On my days off one of my favorite parts of the day is when you go down for your afternoon nap, and I put you in our bed and you and I take a snooze. I love watching you sleep and listening to the little noises you make.

It's hard to go to work and miss out on you. I hate it, but at least it is only 3 days a week. 12 hours is a long time and when I get off work I'm tired and you are usually starting to wind down for the night. You have been extra hungry and fussy lately and I'm wondering if you aren't going through a growth spurt!

Speaking of which, when I show your pictures to people they comment on how big you are! On Wednesday I took you to the dentist with me. I've been going there since I was a little girl. Everyone thought you were older than you were because of your size. In fact, one of the women opted not to hold you because she'd hurt her back a couple weeks ago and thought holding a 20 lb+ baby was probably not a good idea.

I don't know why you are so big. AJ and I were both healthy chunky babies, but not as large as you! I'm not worried about it though, a lot of other moms with "big" babies told me that once they started walking they slimmed down. The only problem I have is you are outgrowing your clothes faster than I can use them! I've been putting you in 6-12 month onesies to give you some room. Plus it has been so hot I don't really want you wearing much of anything. These 100+ degree Missouri days are getting ridiculous, but luckily it cooled off a little this weekend.

Speaking of this weekend, your dad went out of town for a bachelor party. So you and I went to your Grandpa McKinney's. Grandpa McKinney is just wild about you and you adore him. In fact, you wouldn't hardly sleep all day because you were so interested in everything going on. I think I got a couple pics of you taking one of your two fifteen-minute naps!

Gravy was also very interested in you and your toys. He kept trying to lick you and you would just laugh. He also wanted to lay on your activity mat while you weren't using it.

Another thing you love at 21 weeks: going outside! And since it rained (finally!) and cooled down a bit, we were all able to sit on the front porch and swing and have sweet tea. It felt amazing and you absolutely loved it. Overall, it was a great weekend even though we didn't have your daddy with us. We're all back together now and you are passed out, I guess catching up on sleep you didn't get yesterday. :)

Love,
Momma
