19 Weeks

Hey Little Buddy,

You are 19 weeks old this week.

This past week was your 4 month checkup and Dr. W told us we could start you on some rice cereal. I mixed up a bowl around dinner time and your dad and I fed you. You weren't really a fan, and more of it ended up in Biscuit's belly than yours, but we'll see if you warm up to it. Dr. W said the rice is mostly to help you learn to eat, and the fruits and veggies (AKA the good stuff!) comes in a couple months.

At 19 weeks you are SO close to rolling over! You can get up to your side, but from there you just fall back to your back. It's going to be any day now! I still can't believe you did it on accident when you were about 7 weeks old, your dad and I were so surprised. But you were also a little lighter then and it was probably easier for you then :)

You are still teething, although no little teeth have come in just yet. You can be extra fussy and drooly and you still are gnawing on everything in sight when your gums are bothering you - but no teeth yet!

You lay on your activity mat and try to pull the dangling toys to your mouth, but they are too far away. While you are in your jumper, I hand you a rag or your Sophie giraffe and you chew on those while you jump. Pretty much anything in arm's reach ends up in your mouth!

Also, you are really into music now. You stop and listen to me sing you a song. Then you squeal with delight like it is the best thing ever! One night you were extremely fussy and fighting sleep with everything you had. I sat in the chair with you and sang the "Mockingbird" lullaby and you were instantly soothed. It was such a great feeling for your momma - it was like what you see in the movies. :) You smile and coo at your toys that play music, too.

I love playing with you, and it is so awesome to see you entertain yourself too. I read not to rely on gadgets and gizmos for play, but really I feel like sometimes you prefer it over me! Sometimes holding you and letting you stand on me isn't enough - I'll put your on your mat and you'll go nuts kicking your legs and playing the piano with your feet. Or I'll put you in the jumper and you will bounce so hard it seems like you are going to fly out! So while I try to be in contract with you as much as I can, sometimes I get a little jealous of the fun you have without me ;)

A pic from daddy - waiting for momma to get home!

Activity Mat Fun!

It's been hard lately, it feels like I have been working so much and not seeing you enough. On Wednesday after your appointment you and I slept the day away. Then on Thursday your Great-Grandma Darlene and your Grandma Betsy came over to visit during the day and your Grandpa Steve visited in the evening, so I didn't have much time with you either. Then Friday I put in a whole 12-hour shift and then yesterday I was on-call and we went in to work a 9.5 hour call day. Ugh, I hate weekend call.

So I go in Monday and Tuesday and hopefully Wednesday and Thursday can be all about me and you. I am going to a bachelorette party this weekend at the Lake and I'll be missing you.

Love,
Mommma
