On my way out the door to the cardiologist's, I found a piece of spaghettio I had eaten for lunch in the back of my mouth. I took two steps and started throwing up. Luckily, I was able to run to the bathroom and explode all over the toilet. I had just eaten about a half an hour before the event. I only had time to brush my teeth, wipe off my face, pop in a piece of gum, and run out to the car.
When I got to the parking lot, I noticed I had vomit on my pants, because of course I changed into sweatpants between doctors appointments because I am too lazy for real pants (even maternity pants). I looked and felt as attractive as a toenail. Fantastic.
Before seeing Dr. T, I had to go a floor up to get an Echo. That took quite a while. I basically laid on a bed in the dark while a guy played with a transducer around my left boob. It kind of hurt, at one point I thought the transducer was going to go straight through me. I also almost fell asleep - hey, the lights were dim, it's a rainy day, I wasn't feeling well, and I was lying on a bed! Luckily the guy kept directing me to roll on my side, roll on my back, breathe in, breathe out, so I wasn't able to snooze. The technician couldn't find the holes that they saw in 2002. I still have the murmer so they said they are still there, but they are so small that they couldn't find them.
When I went to visit Dr. T he told me that him and another cardiologist would look at my results. He also said that current studies are showing that you don't have to worry about antibiotics before medical procedures when you have VSD (no more horse pills?!). He wants to see me back in 4-5 months and said we'll talk more about it then (I don't think I'm gonna get away from the horse pills).
We talked about the pregnancy - actually, we talked more about the pregnancy than my heart, for a second I thought I was reliving my OB visit. He was asking me about the nausea and I told him I had just thrown up before I came and I was aware I looked like crap (God...) He laughed and told me that his wife's 3 pregnancies were all horrible 1st trimesters and that the 2nd was the honeymoon period. Thank goodness.
He said another concern with VSD is it can cause a leaky aortic valve, so I need to have an Echo every 3-5 years instead of every decade. Yeah, I'll be signing up for that! I see Dr. T again in January, but they said I can reschedule into February if the weather is bad or I'm feeling like poop that day. I'm thinking we can bet on both. :)
PS: Still excited about this morning's US...love looking at those pics!
