31 Weeks / 7 Months Old

Dear Sweet 7-Month-Old Wyatt,

You are 31 weeks old and officially a 7-monther.

You are so social now. You will sit there and babble telling us about God-knows what. It's so funny to see it. I respond to you with "Oh really"s and "And then what happened?"s. I guess you are just telling me about what you see and how you are feeling that day.

You still aren't cruising across the floor, but you have learned how to army-crawl around. You also will roll and roll until you get where you want to be, which is usually to someone or to a toy.

Your favorite toys aren't toys at all. You love the remote control and my cell phone. I have been taking the batteries out of the remote control so you can play with it because you were getting into all sorts of menus and settings on the TV. I don't like you having my cell phone because I fee like it's awfully germy, so AJ and I found you a toy cell phone for babies that is better for you to wave around and stick in your mouth.

You aren't wanting to go down for naps anymore. You fight and wail and fuss until you finally wear yourself out. I try everything; we stand there and sway, I try the swing, the bed...Hell, I would stand on my head if it would work! You hate naps!

You also hate your crib now too, which is probably my fault for pulling you into the bed at night when you'd wake up fussing from your new teeth. You fall asleep after a bottle like you have done every night since you were 7 weeks old, only now when your daddy picks you up and places you in the crib you wail like a banshee. You are half asleep (you don't even open your eyes), but you are mad as hell about being on your back in the crib. I pull you out and hold you and you fall right back to sleep in the same minute.

It's perplexing.

This past Friday was your dad and I's 9-year-anniversary of being together and we spent the weekend in Greenwood, MO (a suburb of KC) with you and Biscuit visiting his sister Stefanie and her husband Jim. We drove up on Saturday and ate chili for dinner and hung out. Their house is so pretty and clean it was definitely on the other end of the spectrum from ours at the moment!

You were mad about sleeping in a new place. I finally got you down for good around midnight and you woke up at 4:30 AM and then 8 AM. You and I slept in a guest room while your daddy slept on the couch in the living room. You are such a bed hog! You want to be close, that is for sure, even if it does mean trying to run mommy off the bed.

On Sunday we ate breakfast and then checked out a store called Buy, Buy, Baby. It was awesome! We got you several things and I absolutely loved it. My favorite thing we got you was definitely a knit hat for the fall. It had a mohawk on it with matching mittens. ADORABLE.

After spending over a hundred dollars in Buy, Buy, Baby, we walked across the street and ate at Joe's Crab Shack, which was fun. Joe's reminds me of taking trips to Chesterfield to go to Babies R Us and then stopping at Joe's Crab Shack in St. Peters before you got here :)

You ate a bit from your bottle but mostly looked around at the ceiling which was adorned with spinning, colorful lights. You were so well behaved the entire trip to KC. You are such a laid-back baby (well, except when it's time for a nap or for bed I should say!).

Love,
Momma

Your dad and I were 16 years old when we started dating. I had gone into the grocery store he worked at and bought a jug of milk and passed him a note with my phone number that said to call me sometime. That one moment of courage changed my life forever :)

Happy 9 Years, AJ.
