You are 29 weeks old this week!
Things were busy during your 28th week. Allie and I took you and Lilly to the Little Gym "Bugs" class for the first time. It was an introductory class so it was free to try. The class is for 4-10 month olds, and you were the biggest little person there! You'd woken up early and hadn't had a nap yet, so you were a little irritated from the get-go. They had us sit in a circle and introduce ourselves and you didn't want to "clap" for the other babies or "wave" hello. The class was set to music and each song indicated a new activity to start. You guys did wheel-barrels, played with maracas and bouncy balls, and tumbled with the instructor. There was even a part where we played with the parachute (just you wait - BEST day of PE ever!). It was fun to watch you in a new environment around so many kiddos your age, but I haven't decided if we'll go back or not. You were a little more interested in playing with a maraca by yourself than anything else, and Little Gym is expensive. We'll see, maybe when you are older we can try it again.
We also had your 6 month appointment with Dr. W. You did great and entertained yourself with the paper on the table or your stuffed caterpillar while we waited. K weighed you and you were 25 lbs in the >97th percentile and 28.5" long in the 96th percentile. Your head circumference was in the 90th percentile. So all in all, you are just a big boy! Dr. W said to keep trying to practice eating solids, that you are doing great taking bites here and there. You also got 4 shots and an oral vaccine and you were not happy about any of it, but you bounced back quickly! You and I went back home and Great Grandma Darlene watched you while your dad and I went to talk to a lady about refinancing the house.
When we got back, my Grandma mentioned you hadn't napped yet. I was impressed that you were awake and not conked out like after all your other vaccines! We finally took a nap at 2:30 and you didn't wake up til almost 7! I guess the lack of naps, the trauma of getting shots, and the buildup of Children's Tylenol finally caught up with you. I tried waking you up at 6:30 by just talking to you - and you turned your head away! Not having it!
You've been trying like crazy to crawl. You are picking up and lifting from the hips up, but you can't figure out what to do with your legs. You kick them like crazy, get frustrated and holler, and put your face flat on the floor to collect yourself, then try all over again. Biscuit is getting more interested in you as you are trying to become more mobile. He is going to be pretty upset when that baby gate goes up and he can't go in and out of the basement as he pleases!
I was on call this past weekend so what better to do than clean out your wardrobe, because seriously, no matter how long the 9 month clothes hang there unworn the time has passed and it's time to move on .You can wear most 12 month clothes now, but I've been putting you in 18 month clothes to give you more room to move around in. I put you in jeans for the first time over the weekend! They were cargo pants so your daddy found a hammer for you to carry with you ;)
We also went to the 63 Diner Saturday night on a 2nd try (the first time we were heading there I got called into work) so I could get a cheeseburger I'd been craving all day and to get me outta the house (but not at work!). Luckily, I did not get called in the 2nd time!
We have gotten you a new Recaro carseat (your dad suggested it, I guess Recaro also makes racing seats - either way, I never thought I'd see your dad so interested in a baby seat), so no more carrying the pumpkin seat into a restaurant. They whipped out a high chair and you loved sitting next to the table and watching everyone come in and out. At the diner that have a large Elvis statue you could not take your eyes off of and you also had a couple waitresses that needed to come by to say hi to you.
On Sunday I was off call and you, your daddy, and I headed into Fulton to see your Grandpa McKinney for a bit. We hung out on the farm for a while with you decked out in your bib overalls. I have a cute video of you with your bibs on playing with your toy tool bench.
We had just left Grandma Lorrie's after a quick visit and your dad saw a hooter sitting on the No Parking sign about a half a block from her house. Normally don't see these guys in town...
Creepy! Your dad also pointed out the "ghost" to the left of the owl. Nice!
Love,
Momma
