17 Weeks

Dear Lil Boop,
This week you are 17 weeks, which makes you the size of an onion!

And your momma feels like the size of a tow truck....and wouldn't trade it for a thing! I have only gained 9 pounds so far.

This week your cartilage is turning into bone. You are also putting on some fat (at least I'm not the only one!). You also have your fingerprints by now, and have mastered the yawn along with hiccups (in fact, you can probably hear me when I have the hiccups!). I may start feeling you any time by now, but they say first time mommas have a hard time differentiating between baby movements and gas. I cannot wait to feel a kick or punch!

Lately I can tell my center of balance is off. My tummy is pooching out and I find myself walking with a hand on my hip because it makes my back feel better. The headaches have gone away, so has the nausea and extreme fatigue. In fact, I am feeling better than ever! My complexion is awesome, my hair is thick, my nails are growing like crazy. My moods are more stable and I am able to stay up til 10 most nights (instead of 7:30...). No bleeding gums yet, my eyes are a little drier but I wear contacts so I am used to it, and my belly button seems like it looks different every day, wide open and weird! I notice I am having round ligament pain a lot lately. It feels like I just got done with an ab workout most of the time, with sharp pains and soreness, but we all know that crunches aren't the cause of this!

I can't believe it's 3 weeks (21 days....) until we get to see you again and find out your gender. Over the weekend I went through a baby name book and jotted down names I liked, then crossed them off if AJ didn't like them.

I bought this book because instead of an alphabetical list of all the names in the world, it actually had lists of names ("old-fashioned names, girly-girl names, rock star names, powerboy names"...) to go through that are relevant to 2011. I got through the entire book over the weekend with around 10 girls names that made the cut (a few of which are just thoughts for middle names) and about 4 boys names (none of which I am completely gaga over). Boys names are hard.

Anyway, today was my day off and I went to yoga this morning. My instructor looks like Olivia Wilde's twin and there is a skinny pregnant girl in the class with a belly out to yin-yang, but that's the only place she is pregnant, and she can still stay more balanced than I can. I tried not to watch myself in the mirror because there was a lot of fugly going on in my corner. But you know what? It feels really good to stretch and to move in a non-cardio-i'm-gonna-keel-over-and-die way. Also, there is a Relaxation period at the end where you get to lay there with your eyes shut and listen to relaxing music while she reminds you to breathe and quit thinking about things that are stressing you out. At one point we were doing an exercise and I had this really weird feeling in my tummy - like someone was blowing bubbles in my stomach! - and it made me think it was you, Boop, since I have never felt that sensation before, but I can't be sure...

I also did some crafting today, Boop!

I'm pretty proud of myself! I hung them up in the nursery. I tried to find a gender-friendly design for the background, and finally settled on green because all the other papers were either boy or girl-dominant.

I have chili on the stove because it has been freezing all day today. I think it's something like a 44 degree high for the day.

And guess what Boop?

THE CARDS ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES!

They were the wildcard and beat the Phillies and Brewers to get into the world series to play the Texas Rangers (I know, right?). The first game is on tonight and Cardinal Nation is excited!!!

Awwww....

Love,
