15 Weeks

Dear Lil Boop,

You are 15 weeks along now and about the size of a navel orange...mmmm....

It's been all about fruit so far. :) You could be hiccuping in there at this point, plus you are doing a lot of moving around (even though I can't feel it yet). Your joints and limbs can all move now. I can't believe it, I cannot believe I have to wait 5 weeks to see you again.

The pregnancy websites are warning me about bleeding gums at this point, but I haven't had any just yet. I get shortness of breath moreso now than ever, and I am getting dizzy a lot lately. My mood swings are giving AJ whiplash and making me feel like a crazy person. I swear, one minute I feel like I am on cloud 9 and the next I am so depressed I feel like crying in bed all day. I hate it.

There is a girl from high school and we are about a week apart in our pregnancies and she just found out she is having a baby girl. I am so jealous that she has already found out and can't believe I have to wait for over a month. *sigh*... so in fun she sent me a gender predicting test. You pee on a tablespoon of baking soda and if it foams it is a boy and if it does nothing it is a girl.

Which got me thinking about the other old wives tales about gender prediction...where do they come up with this stuff? So in fun I have taken a couple quizzes online, moreso because I am interested in how people think that certain pregnancy symptoms or the dates of birthdays of the parents and month of conception determine the baby's sex.

Old Wive Predictors of Girls

• Carrying weight around the hips and bottom
• Girls are carried high
• Morning sickness in early pregnancy
• You aren't looking your best (the baby girl steals momma's good looks) - Boop HAS to be a girl!
• Your boobs are growing dramatically
• You crave fruits/ orange juice
• Baby's heart rate is 140 or more
• You crave sweets
• Belly looks like a watermelon
• More zits!

Old Wive Predictors of Boys

• Carrying weight out front
• Hair on legs is growing faster
• Boys are carried low
• Feet are colder now than before being pregnant
• Cravings for salty or sour foods
• Your nose widens
• You crave meats and cheese
• Baby's heart rate is less than 140
• Dad is gaining weight with mom
• Belly looks like a basketball
• More headaches!

From the quizzes I have taken, it always predicts I am more likely to have a girl (except the Gender Chart). So we will see if these Old Wives know what they are talking about. Speaking of Old Wives, *wink wink* I need to visit my friend Dolly so she can lay her hands on my belly and tell me what I am having. Allie is finding out the sex of her baby this Thursday. So excited! I think it's a boy, but we will see how good of a predictor I am :)
