Dear Wyatt,
You are 42 weeks old this week and it was also the week of your FIRST Christmas!
This past week has consisted of chasing you all over the house and cursing AJ for not putting the baby gate up yet. You are getting FAST and can go long distances. You will crawl all the way from the living room to the bathroom down the hall when I run bath water and call to you to come take a bath (I have a really cute picture of you standing beside the tub totally commando - your little bum is so cute!).
This past week was also your 9 month checkup with Dr. W. You came in at 28 lbs and 31" long, both in the >98 percentile. Dr. W even joked about asking what school district you would be playing football in when you got older! He asked how things were going and told us you can eat whatever - except for peanuts, egg whites, and honey. He also told me to go buy a toothbrush for you since I told him we weren't doing very well in the teeth-brushing department since you have 8 teeth and like to bite down on the finger brush (and it HURTS!). You are a fan of the toothbrush and want to do it yourself!
I told him about how you don't want to be in your crib anymore and he said we have to put you in it and stand firm - that you are going to cry and it may be for an hour or it may be for 5 hours. He said it may take 1 night or 1 week, but eventually you would learn that the crib = bed again. I broke out into a sweat in the doctor's office when he told me about this strategy. I'm serious. I thought I would throw up thinking about letting you cry for that long. Needless to say we haven't gone through with this scenario yet. Nor do I want to.
Anyway, I'm writing this post a little late this week due to all the Christmas shenanigans. We spent Christmas Eve at 2 different places and Christmas Day at 2 different places, so we have hardly been home.
Your first Christmas party was over at your Great Nan-Nan's. You had an absolute blast. There were several little kids running around that you were curious about. Your Grandpa Steve also gave you a motorcycle that played music, so you were bopping along and dancing for everybody.
Such a little cutie pie!
Then we rolled over to your Grandpa McKinney's for his Christmas. You ate a lot of goodies off the table. You were very interested in the low ornaments on the Christmas tree and also visiting with Gravy while we were there. Grandpa McKinney gave you some John Deere tractors to play with, but you were also very interested in his presents! Aunt Diane gave you a toy cat that you chase around on the floor, but you kept getting mad because you couldn't catch her.
On Christmas Day we dressed you up in the elf costume your Grandma Betsy had gotten you and we went to your Gramma T's for a little get-together. Gramma T got you your own recliner to sit in. You tried it out for a little while and even laid back and sucked down a little bit from your bottle.
After Gramma T's we went to your Great-Grandma Darlene's. Your Grandma Betsy showed up too and brought with her a mountain of gifts. You didn't care too much about the unwrapping, you were more interested in sitting on your daddy's lap and eating puffs!
I have been off since last Friday and go back to work this Friday, so you and I have 2 whole days left to play together. Today has been a laid back day of playing with Christmas presents and napping and snuggling. Your Grandpa McKinney showed up to visit today with Matthew and his girlfriend and I still haven't showered yet, but who cares!
This Christmas was the best by far and it is because you are here, little one. BEST GIFT EVER.
