24 Weeks

Dear Wyatt,

You are 24 weeks old this week.

You are pretty much only wearing 12 Month clothes at this point - my big boy! You are not attached to your bottle anymore and only fill up when you are done playing. You love to play play play! You are still on a roll. In fact, one morning I put you on your mat and not only did you flip over, but you did a complete 180 on the mat!

You are so crazy!

Another big thing you are doing is playing with your toys. Before, you never really cared for toys and were more interested in just sticking a rag in your mouth and being on your way. Lately you have been really fond of this ball I picked up for you at Wal-Mart and this crinkly-sounding soft storybook your Grandma T bought for you. Instead of just jumping in your Jumparoo, you have figured out how all the little toys and gizmos on the sides of it work.

Other cool things you are doing now: playing with your feet, passing objects from hand to hand, and "raking" objects towards yourself.

I got some cute videos of you this week. One is of you laughing and the other is of you biting at your dad.

You are really into "standing" now and if you had it your way, you would have us hold you up in a standing position all the time! Sometimes we lean you on things or put you in your Jumparoo just to give our arms a break. It's my first go-to when you are fussy: stand you up! The 2nd line of defense is to take you outside. You will always stop crying once you get outside.

This past weekend was the wedding reception at our house for Melanie and Mike. You had a blast and actually took a few cat naps here and there. Your daddy barbecued and there was plenty of food and drink to go around. Everyone loved on you and exclaimed about how big you are. Your aunt Stefanie was having you watch a Chiefs game and telling you all about the role of the offensive linemen.

They took a lot of pictures and I got a picture of our 3-person family, even though you looked unhappy about it.

And then we had to get a 4-Generation picture of you, your dad, your Grandma T, and your Great-Grandma Cheryl.

We had trouble getting you to bed that night. You were so tired but I guess you were still wanting to party. You were pretty fussy, but I finally won with the help of your dad and you slept HARD. I opted for bed at 11:30 even though the party went on well into 2 AM.

Sunday was the family reunion on my dad's side. There is always plenty of food and good conversation. We showed you off and I got to introduce you when the meeting started. Your Grandpa McKinney was very proud to have you there. He kept stealing you and trying to slip you whip cream.

You and I got on the swing together outside of the building. You really liked it! But I guess the past 2 days of partying and being curious about everything have finally caught up with you and your dad, because right at this moment he is napping on the couch and you are napping on my lap in the chair!

I really love when you are asleep and cuddling with me. It is one of my favorite things that I'll miss when you get older and I get less "cool". When I come home from working a long day, I love when you fall asleep and I get to cuddle with you. It helps after a long day to just love on you.

Love,
Momma
