10 Weeks

Dear Wyatt,

You are 10 weeks old and a lot went on this past week!

#1 - You met Lilly (finally!)

Wyatt and Lilly, born 2 weeks apart (she's older!)

Wyatt & Lilly

You weren't impressed with your shades

Momma & Baby

We met up with Allie and Lilly at Houlihan's for lunch the Wednesday before I went back to work. Daley, Kari, and Queena (all girls from work) were there too. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the sun. Lilly slept the whole time and you fussed and cried until I finally whipped a bottle up and then you only drank ONE ounce and slept the rest of the time. You had eaten before we left and I couldn't hold you off with a pacifier, little chunk!

#2 - You wore shoes for the first time!

Everyone told me to not worry about putting shoes on you until you could walk, but your Great Aunt Tina had bought you a pair from Old Navy and I put them on you and snapped a few pictures. You smiled at me and wondered what all the fuss was about. You kicked off a shoe within a couple minutes so I admitted defeat and took off the other.

#3 - Mommy went back to work and you went to the sitter for the first time.

You WIDE AWAKE the night before my first day back at work!

What I got to come home to after a long 12-hour shift

Liz sent me this picture of you during my first day back at work
It was tough going back to work. You and I have been attached for over a couple months now. I work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays 7 AM - 7 PM. I used to work 10's but had to switch to 12's because of childcare.

It was hard to leave that first day, but I forced myself out of the door. I almost cried driving to work, but held back tears. Liz updated me throughout the day and sent a picture of you to help get me through the day. I came home and held you the rest of the night and you were so fussy! I think you were tired from having such a fun time at Liz's!

Everyone was glad to see me back at work, and it was exciting to be back and have everyone comment on missing me and how different I looked (they got used to seeing me 40 lbs heavier and swollen with fluid!). I had been worried about forgetting what to do in the OR, but it was like riding a bike, and except for a couple brain farts here and there I'm doing okay.

Your Grandma Lorrie watches you Mondays and Tuesdays and Liz, a nurse friend who I went to school with and lives a minute away, watches you Fridays.

#4 - Uncle Matthew's Birthday

This past Saturday was your Uncle Matt's 28th birthday party at Grandpa McKinney's. Your Grandmas Betsy and Lorrie, your Great Aunts Catherine and Diane, your Great Uncle Bob, your Aunt Melanie, Melanie's fiance Mike, and your Great Grandma Darlene were there to celebrate.

Everyone loved on you and passed you around (AKA fought over you!). Everyone was impressed with how alert you were. You didn't nap the whole time we were there. You finally conked out around 11 at night so we hurried home to get you swaddled and keep you in your bedtime routine. Because let's face it, you sleeping from about 10-4:30 every night is pretty sweet.

#5 - First Mother's Day!

Best (and First) Mother's Day EVER

Sunday was my first Mother's Day and you and Daddy spoiled me with a Kindle Fire (I guess you both WERE listening!). We spent the day at home and I cuddled on you and played with my new toy. You were so exhausted from partying the night before that I had plenty of time to start reading on it.

#6 - Graduated to 3-6 Month Clothes

Well, it's official, you are in 3-6 month clothes now because you are so chunky! It was like a wrestling match getting you in 0-3's and I worried about hurting you. I realized Sunday that I had no 3-6 pajamas, so we put you in a 0-3 sleeper and Daddy cut the feet out so you could stretch your little piggies. I liked watching you wiggle your toes while you enjoyed your nighttime bottle!

So a lot of things happened in Week 9. So far it's week 10 and I haven't seen you much because of work. I was at the hospital until 8:30 last night on-call. I came home and gave you a bottle and we both went to bed. This morning I kissed you goodbye and it hurt to leave because I miss you so much. Your daddy got up with you for the first time at 4:30 AM to let me sleep in for an hour. I needed it. I was so exhausted I didn't even want to move.

I cannot wait to get home and then have 2 whole days home with you, then work Friday, then have the weekend with you.

Love,
Mommy
