5 Weeks & Easter

Dear Wyatt,

You are 5 weeks old and giving your mommy a run for her money! You are awake most of the day now and HUNGRY. Yesterday mommy couldn't get ANYTHING done because when we weren't eating we were burping and when we weren't burping we were eating! And LOTS more crying! Luckily mommy is getting better at burping and that is helping with the spit up situation.

You are recognizing familiar voices like mine and your daddy's and you are beginning to focus in on our faces. You are making a lot of noises as if you are trying to communicate back with us!

You are grabbing ahold of things now, like my finger or your burp rag (and flapping it around in demand for more milk!), and you have a very strong grip! You are also holding your head up for a longer period of time, especially when you are on my chest so you can look me in my eyes.

You are eating about every 2-3 hours and drinking in about 3-5 ounces at a time. This week I'm pretty sure you are going through a growth spurt and sometimes you aren't satisfied until you get 6 ounces! Yesterday you exhausted your mommy because you wanted to eat ALL day long and didn't take a nap til the afternoon and then it was only for a half hour or so. I'm still surprised at how long you are able to stay awake.

Today I needed a shower BAD and pulled you into the bathroom with me as usual in your bouncer seat, however, you were fussing as soon as I stepping into the water. So mommy got creative and started singing every nursery rhyme she knew - and I knew more than I thought I did! After the shower I felt I had exhausted you with my singing long enough, so I turned on my phone to play some music. It wasn't until I played Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" that you stopped fussing and got a serious look on your face like you were listening in. Did you recognize that song from the womb?

Saturday was your first night away from home - you spent the night with your Grandma Lorrie. Mommy missed you terribly and watched videos of you and looked at pictures. I also got some MUCH needed sleep - I think it was the first time I'd slept longer than 4 hours since you were born. And 4 hours was on a good night and I don't think you've done it again.

Sunday was your first major holiday - Easter! You got yourself a basket from Great Grandma Darlene and from Grandpa McKinney. Your Grandma Lorrie gave you some outfits to wear. You spent most of the day sleeping and getting a little bit of sun.

It wasn't until the ride home that you started to wake up, you silly little boy!

Well, guess what? You are starting to fuss and acting like you are hungry, so momma's gotta split!

Love you little one!

Mommy :)
