This week we have reached the 26 week mark! Sometimes I feel like we should be further along, and other times I can't believe we have come so far.
This week you are still in eggplant phase and funny story - AJ and I were at HyVee this past weekend and I got to pick up an actual eggplant and see how long and heavy it was. It was so big! I can't how much you have grown, or that I am carrying around a baby that big in my belly.
Important milestones this week:
- The network of nerves in your ears is well developed and more sensitive than ever, and you could be listening in on me and your daddy's conversations.
- Your testicles are beginning to descend into your scrotum - this will take about 2-3 days.
- Your eyelashes have come in! I hope you have long ones like AJ and not short stubby ones like me!
- Your eyes may be starting to open!
Mommy's milestones:
- Sleepless nights - leg cramps, trips to the bathroom, and a big ol' belly making things uncomfortable, need I say more?
- My belly button sometimes pops out, but I am able to pop it back in for now. (You're not done in the oven yet!)
- 2 stretch marks - my first mommy tattoos snuck up on me on the left side of my torso despite my ammo of cocoa butter. I guess it is time to call in more forces! I invested today in a tummy butter cream to put on at night.
- The waddle: it has gotten to the point where my belly is front and center - to the point where there is no denying the fact that I am pregnant, even in scrub tops. I have been having back pain as well as the sciatica, and I have been taunted my several co-workers in the hallways for walking like a penguin. I don't even realize I am doing it until they mimic my movement!
Your momma has been having back pain and no wonder!
- My growing uterus has shifted my center of gravity, has stretched and weakened my abdominal muscles, and is putting pressure on nerves.
- Increased weight is causing more work for my muscles and increased stress on joints
I have talked to some of the mommas at work and they have sworn by seeing a chiropractor while pregnant. Some of them saw one once a week and others once every 2 weeks. I wasn't really looking into it until this past week, when I started waking up with shooting pain instead of just coming home from work in pain. Last week I came home every night and spent the evening in the recliner on a heating pad. I was starting to have to take Tylenol for the pain. I finally called when I was at work and my leg kept going out from under me. Every step I took felt like someone was stabbing me in the butt cheeks - and I was having trouble doing my job.
I went and saw Dr. E today. Apparently she enjoys her preggo patients and specializes in the Webster Technique, which is beneficial to pregnant women if your baby is breech. I really liked her and thought she was easy to talk to and very compassionate. She did a great job explaining things to me and made me feel comfortable despite the fact that I had hairy legs and was wearing the wrong underwear for a patient gown. She did an adjustment after explaining to me that my sacrum was tilted, causing my right leg to be shorter than the left, and causing me pain. It was a new and different experience, but I am already feeling better. I go and see her next week to check up. I hope this helps, I was getting desperate!
This weekend is Christmas and when I stopped at Wal-Mart to pick up some deodorant today - after eating lunch with my mom and brother @ Chili's - you can tell everyone is feeling the stress of the holidays. No one was smiling. People were yelling into their cell phones about how many bags and bows they needed to purchase. Then there are the people who just aimlessly push their carts around just to be aisle obstacles for the people coming in the store on a mission - for say, deodorant. I left as quickly as possible.
I can't believe next year will be your first Christmas, Baby Wyatt. You are going to love it. We'll go visit Santa Claus so you can scream-cry at him. We'll bundle you up so you can try out the snow. You'll get to look at all the Christmas lights and Christmas trees in wonder. And mommy will take 1000's of photos. :) It will be the best Christmas ever!
Love,
