24 Weeks

Dear Wyatt,

This week you are 24 weeks along. You are still in papaya phase, but at times it feels like you should be in basketball phase. At least, your momma sometimes feels as round as a basketball. Your skin is becoming less trasparent and thanks to small capillaries beginning to form, you are pinking up! You are gaining about 6 ounces a week now. You have grown eyelashes, eyebrows, and maybe some hair (although it has no pigment yet - your parents are both brunettes, so we aren't planning on you being a ginger).

24 weeks - growing fast!
This past weekend we went to the Fulton Christmas parade. Your Grandma Terrell has a house right on the street the parade starts at, so we invited my dad and brother over and your Great-Grandma Lorenz came over as well. We all sat on the front porch and watched the floats, bands, and horses go by. It's the first parade I've been to in a while. Baby Wyatt, nothing in Fulton is flashy so it wasn't a big to-do. We will be sure to take you to some decent parades when you get old enough because I remember being in them for Girl Scouts and band as well as watching them form the sidewalk and they were a lot of fun. There was still a small kid inside me (besides you, har har) that wanted to run into the street to grab Tootsie Rolls.

That afternoon it was rainy so AJ and I went with my dad and brother to look at recliners for the nursery just to have something to do. I found one I really liked and ordered it in the color green I wanted and with a glider mechanism instead of a rocking mechanism. It should be here in about 3 weeks. I'm excited for it - I wanted something comfortable that I wouldn't mind turning into a pseudo-bed those first months.

On Sunday we put up the tree and Christmas decorations. I pulled a few things out of Wal-Mart bags from post-Christmas sales last year. I had 2 new stockings for AJ and I, stocking holders since we have no fireplace, and a new Christmas tree skirt.

Your daddy caught a picture of your momma putting up the tree -
huffing and puffing and sitting on the end table.
End result! Love the glow from the tree at night.
Your Grandma Terrell and Great-Grandma Lorenz came over to visit at our house that afternoon, bringing onesies for you and a peanut butter cake in tow. We showed off the nursery, ate some cake, and talked at the dinner table until we decided to go to Menard's to look around. I looked at Chrismas trees - all shapes and sizes and all lit up in different colors. I told AJ I want a green tree and he said we would get one next year and that it could be a tree for you.

Before they left, my belly had exploded into massive form from too much Cracker Barrell we had eaten after Menard's. Lorrie (your Grandma) poked me in my protruding belly button and told me you weren't going to wait til the end of March. We will see! She has been right about things so far.

Love you Baby Wyatt,
